Cube is now offering a 7 inch slate tablet with resistive screen. The slate is called K8M and is made of white plastic material. While the screen is said to be just fine, it is being criticized for the material quality.

Like Apple iPad and Haipad M7s slate, it has a single button below the screen that brings you back to the home screen. You will find several other buttons too on its side that includes power, eject and menu button.

On the bottom, you will find headphone jack, min USB, full USB port, power port and micro SD card slot. These slots are protected to protect the dust from entering the body of the slate. Back of the tablet is pretty simple. It has two speakers that produce decent volume output.

The screen has WVGA (800 x 480) resolution and has ok-ish saturation levels. We really wished for better screen resolution but that is not the case. Cube has a habit of not equipping its slates with high resolution screens. For example, the Cube U3 features a 4.3 inch 480 x 272 pixel resolution screen.

On the brighter side, its Rockchip RK2818 chip is powerful enough to decode 720p videos as RK 2818 offers hardware acceleration. Its audio player can handle almost any audio format out there, including MP3, MP4, WMA, AAC, FLAC, APE and so on.

Pros and Cons:

+ Cheap
+ Works well as video, audio player
– Build quality is questionable
– No support for 1080p videos
– Low resolution screen
