Sony Xperia Tablet Z Review

Sony Xperia Tablet Z is a part of the big ‘Xperia’ brand  and looks like a bigger brother of the Xperia Z smartphone. Xperia Tablet Z design is simple and flat. The design of Tablet Z has changed a lot compared to the Sony tablets released in 2012 and 2011. The body size is 266 × 172 × 6.9 ~ 7.2mm (width × depth × height) which makes Xperia Tablet Z the thinnest tablet with 10.1 inch display.

Like the Xperia Z phone, the Xperia Tablet Z is waterproof and dustproof. You can keep it in water 1 meter deep for 30 minutes. The desktop dock, shown below, is sold separately and offers angle adjustment.

The 10.1 display is LCD type and packs 1920 x 1200 pixels, which is incredibly high for a tablet. It has high brightness and contrast levels. Sony calls this reality display.

The Xperia Tablet Z is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor which is the same chip that is being used in Xperia Z phone. This processor is more powerful the Tegra 3 and Tegra 2 that were used in previous generation Sony tablets. We do wish it had the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor but S4 Pro is not slow either.

Other exciting features of Xperia Tablet Z include NFC support, MHL micro USB port, and infrared port for controlling TV and other electronics that make use of infrared remotes.
